Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) Health Benefits:

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) is one of the most crucial B vitamins for humans, it is also known as Calcium pantothenate or pantothenic acid. Calcium pantothenate exists in three forms due to chiral carbon atoms: DL-body (mixed), D-body (dextrose), and L-body (levulose), and only D-calcium pantothenate is biologically active.

■ Source

In 1933, R.J. Williams, an American scientist, isolated a substance from yeast that promoted the growth of microorganisms and named it "pantothenic acid" because of its abundance in living organisms23 . In the 1940s, chemical analyses clarified the molecular structure of pantothenic acid, which consists of 2,4-dihydroxy-3,3-dimethylbutyric acid linked to β-alanine by an amide bond. Due to the poor stability of natural pantothenic acid (susceptible to hygroscopicity and decomposition in the presence of acids and bases), scientists converted it to the form of a calcium salt (calcium D-pantothenate) to improve stability and applicability.

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) is found in many plants and animals, and is particularly abundant in yeast, animal liver, whole grains, egg yolks, milk, and green leafy vegetables. Naturally occurring pantothenic acid is primarily in the free acid or coenzyme A-bound state and must be converted to the calcium D-pantothenate form by enzymatic or chemical extraction.

Production technology description:

The synthesis of D-Calcium Pantothenate in the food field is dominated by biofermentation, especially one-step fermentation technology, which directly converts raw materials by microorganisms, combining high purity, low pollution and cost advantages. Chemical synthesis is gradually receding due to environmental restrictions and is reserved for use in specific scenarios.

D-Calcium Pantothenate is synthesized by direct fermentation of genetically engineered bacteria (e.g.E.coli or Saccharomyces cerevisiae) from renewable resources such as corn, without the need for a chemical cleavage step. Microbial enzymes (e.g.hydrolase) are used to selectively cleave DL-pantothenic acid lactone to yield high-purity D-pantothenic acid lactone, which is then reacted with calcium β-aminopropionate to produce calcium D-pantothenate.

 Pharmaceutical field

As a component of coenzyme A, Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) is used in the treatment of vitamin B5 deficiency, the promotion of postoperative repair, and the adjuvant treatment of metabolic disorders (e.g.hyperlipidemia). Involved in neurotransmitter synthesis, improve nerve function disorders, adjuvant treatment of peripheral neuropathy. Used in the repair of burns, ulcers and other skin injuries, accelerate the regeneration of epidermal cells. Usually in the form of tablets, capsules and injections.

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) Applications:

As the active form of vitamin B5, Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) is widely added to infant formulas, dairy products, cereal products (e.g.bread, cookies), and beverages to supplement vitamin B5 and prevent skin roughness and hair loss caused by deficiency. By participating in the metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, it increases the efficiency of energy conversion and is suitable for use in sports nutrition foods and energy supplements. Calcium D-Pantothenate can be added directly to solid foods such as milk powder and nutritional cereals. It can also be used in oral nutritional solutions, soft vitamins or chewable tablets for precise dosage control.

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) is a key component of coenzyme A (CoA), which is involved in the metabolism of sugars, fats, and proteins, helping to convert food into energy and maintain the body's basic metabolic functions.

By promoting white blood cell activity and antibody synthesis, Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) may enhance immunity and reduce the risk of infection, such as reducing the incidence of colds and flu.

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) may promote skin metabolism, increase oxygen and nutrient exchange, and improve skin radiance. Reduces wrinkles and pigmentation and slows skin aging. Shortens the skin repair cycle by increasing collagen synthesis.

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) is essential for bone growth in children and adolescents, improving bone density and preventing osteoporosis while promoting healthy tooth development.

■ Biosynthetic pathways

Microorganisms (e.g.E. coli) can synthesize pantothenic acid through their own pathway involving the conversion of precursors such as α-ketoisovaleric acid and β-alanine. The synthesis of pantothenic acid in plants is based on enzymatic reactions related to photosynthesis and is mainly stored in seeds and leaves.

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) can be added to serums and creams to improve skin barrier function by promoting lipid synthesis in the stratum corneum to reduce dryness and sensitivity. It is used in acne and after-sun repair products to reduce inflammation and redness.

 Cosmetic field

 Maintains nervous system function

As a raw material for the synthesis of neurotransmitters (e.g.acetylcholine), Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) helps maintain normal nervous system function and improves stress adaptation and cognitive performance.

 Promotes growth and development

By participating in protein synthesis and cell renewal, Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) supports height growth, muscle development, and organ function maturation in children and adolescents.

 Supports cardiovascular health

Nutrivitas®Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) regulates cholesterol metabolism, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, and helps stabilize blood pressure levels.
