Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) Health Benefits:
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin), also known as mecobalamin, is a derivative of vitamin B12. It has a similar chemical structure to vitamin B12, but is more efficactive in certain biological activities.Richtek Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) has good water solubility and stability, and is rapidly absorbed into the body where it acts.
■ Source
The discovery of methylcobalamin, an active form of vitamin B12, dates back to the 20th century. The development of vitamin B12 has gone through four major phases, from the original cyanocobalamin, hydroxocobalamin and adenosylcobalamin, culminating in the 1960s with the fourth generation-methylcobalamin. Initially, scientists discovered the primary therapeutic role of vitamin B12, including its use in the treatment of megaloblastic anaemia and adjunctive therapy for neuritis. As research progressed, different forms of vitamin B12 were progressively identified and developed, eventually establishing the importance of methylcobalamin as its active form. The main natural sources of methylcobalamin are animal liver, lean meat, fish, dairy products, beans and legumes.
Particularities of Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin):
Product Specifications:
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) is available in the following specification and contents:

Product quality standards:
● BP/EP/USP/CP/IP/JP
Production technology description:
● The synthesis process of Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) consists mainly of two steps: reduction and methylation of cyanocobalamin. The main raw materials are high purity cyanocobalamin, sodium borohydride and iodomethane. In a dark room, cyanocobalamin is dissolved in a solvent and heated under nitrogen protection, sodium borohydride reduces cyano to hydroxyl, then the methylation reagent iodomethane is added and the hydroxyl group is methylated to produce methylcobalamin. Repeated crystallisation and precipitation to remove salt shortens the post-reaction treatment time and reduces the possibility of product degradation.
▶ Promotes nucleic acid and protein synthesis
▶ Improves nerve conduction
▶ Treatment of peripheral neuropathy
▶ Food field
▶ Pharmaceutical field
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) can correct megaloblastic anaemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency and promote red blood cell maturation; treat diabetic peripheral neuropathy, polyneuritis, etc. and promote nerve myelin sheath regeneration and axon repair; reduce blood homocysteine levels and help prevent cardiovascular disease. It may also reduce blood homocysteine levels and help prevent cardiovascular disease. Common dosage forms include tablets or capsules, lyophilised powder injections, compounded and solubilised for use in critically ill patients or those with absorption disorders.
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) Applications:
As the active form of vitamin B12, Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) can be added to infant formulas, fortified beverages and dietary supplements to prevent vitamin B12 deficiency and to support erythropoiesis and nervous system health. Mecobalamin can also be used in the fermentation process of dairy products (e.g. yoghurt) and condiments (e.g. soy sauce) to increase the efficiency of microbial metabolism.
As a coenzyme of methionine synthase, Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) participates in the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, a process that is essential for DNA and RNA synthesis, thus promoting cell growth and repair.
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) can promote intra-axonal transport and axonal regeneration, which play an important role in repairing damaged nerve fibres and improving nerve signalling, helping to relieve symptoms associated with neuropathy.
In peripheral nerve disorders such as diabetic neuropathy, Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) can relieve symptoms such as numbness, spontaneous pain and sensory abnormalities, and improve patients' quality of life.
■ Pharmacological action
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) is an endogenous coenzyme B12 which plays an important role as a coenzyme of methionine synthetase in the transmethylation reaction of methionine synthesis from homocysteine. Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) promotes nucleic acid, protein and fat metabolism in nerve tissue, stimulates lecithin synthesis in Shewan's cells, repairs damaged myelin sheaths, improves nerve conduction speed, participates in nucleic acid synthesis and promotes haematopoietic function.
▶ Treatment of megaloblastic anaemia
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) has a significant effect on megaloblastic anaemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency, which can promote normal red blood cell development and maturation and improve the symptoms of anaemia.
▶ Promotes myelin formation
Nutrivitas®Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) is involved in the synthesis of lecithin, the main component of the myelin sheath of nerves, and helps to protect and repair nerve fibres, which has a positive effect on the recovery of nerve function.
▶ Cosmetic field
Methylcobalamin may reduce free radical damage through antioxidant action, slow skin ageing, used in anti-wrinkle serum or cream; reduce inflammatory response of sensitive muscles, repair skin barrier, added to repair lotions or masks.
