ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine Health Benefits:
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is one of the primary components of cell membranes and is an amphiphilic molecule composed of a hydrophilic choline head and a hydrophobic fatty acid tail. The third hydroxyl group of glycerol is phosphorylated while the other two are esterified with fatty acids. The phosphate group connects to the choline group. Phosphatidylcholine plays a role in cellular signal transduction, lipid metabolism, and liver health. It is also widely present in foods, such as eggs and soybeans, as well as in human tissues. It also has significant applications in health supplements and pharmaceuticals.

▶ Protect the liver and promote fat metabolism
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine Applications:
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is a key component in the liver's production of lipoproteins. It helps the liver transport excess fat (triglycerides) out of the body and prevents fat from accumulating in liver cells. This helps prevent non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and improves existing fatty liver conditions.
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is an essential component of liver cell membranes. It promotes the regeneration and repair of liver cells and enhances the liver's resistance to toxic substances and alcohol damage. Additionally, phosphatidylcholine provides a protective effect against alcohol-induced liver damage.
■ Source
In 1847, French chemist and pharmacologist T.N. Gobry discovered phosphatidylcholine in egg yolks. In 1874, he determined its complete chemical structure. In 1925, scientist Leven isolated phosphatidylcholine, also known as lecithin, from other phospholipids. In 1956, E.P. Kennedy identified the primary mechanism for synthesizing phosphatidylcholine in mammalian cells, known as the Kennedy pathway.
Plant-based sources of phosphatidylcholine include legumes, sesame seeds, yams, wood ear mushrooms, safflower seeds, corn, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, rapeseed, red kidney beans, black wheat, and peanuts. Animal-based sources include egg yolks, various animal organs, fish, animal bone marrow, and milk. Phosphatidylcholine derived from animals has stronger blood solubility and is more easily absorbed and utilised by the human body.
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is available in the following specification and contents:
☑ ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine powder/waxy solid (PC 25%/35%/50%)
As a natural emulsifier, antioxidant, and nutritional fortifier, ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is added to dairy products, beverages, and baked goods to improve texture (e.g., preventing fat separation) and enhance nutritional value. In infant formula, phosphatidylcholine mimics the phospholipid components found in breast milk. This promotes the absorption of fats and fat-soluble vitamins and supports the development of the infant's nervous system. It can also be formulated into capsules, tablets, and other dietary supplements targeting functions such as liver protection, brain health, and lipid regulation. It is suitable for populations such as those with fatty liver disease, the elderly, and individuals engaged in mentally demanding work.
As an important component of liver cell membranes, ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is commonly used in formulations such as polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine to treat fatty liver disease, hepatitis, and cirrhosis. It repairs liver cells and promotes fat metabolism. It emulsifies blood lipids, reduces cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and helps prevent cardiovascular diseases, such as atherosclerosis. As a core component of liposomes, phosphatidylcholine is used to construct drug delivery systems. Due to its biocompatibility and targeting properties, phosphatidylcholine enhances drug stability, reduces side effects, and increases drug accumulation at the site of disease. Additionally, phosphatidylcholine improves drug solubility and promotes absorption when used as an excipient in injectable and oral formulations.
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is a feed additive used in livestock, poultry, and aquaculture to promote digestion and absorption of fats, proteins, and vitamins. This improves feed utilization. It can also enhance animal immunity by improving intestinal health and increasing disease resistance, thereby reducing the incidence of disease.
■ Nutritional components
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is a phospholipid compound whose molecular structure includes a glycerol backbone connected to other components. Typically, two fatty acid chains are present: one saturated and one unsaturated. These chains influence the fluidity of the cell membrane. The phosphate group connects the glycerol and choline, forming a hydrophilic head. Choline is an essential nutrient that participates in neurotransmitter synthesis and the methyl cycle. This structure gives phosphatidylcholine both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties, making it a key component of the “fluid mosaic model” of the cell membrane.
ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which plays a key role in memory and attention. Taking phosphatidylcholine supplements helps maintain acetylcholine levels in the brain, thereby improving cognitive function and slowing age-related memory decline, such as that seen in early-stage Alzheimer's disease. Myelin sheaths, the “insulating layer” surrounding nerve fibers, primarily consist of phospholipids. Phosphatidylcholine maintains the integrity of these sheaths, ensuring the efficient transmission of nerve signals. This process is crucial for the development and stable function of the nervous system.
▶ Support nervous system function and enhances cognitive function
Ingredients:
● Phosphatidylcholine and does not contain any other additives.
The amphiphilic molecular structure of ROMAPLP®Phosphatidylcholine can emulsify cholesterol and fats in the blood, promoting their metabolism and excretion, thereby reducing lipid deposits on blood vessel walls and lowering the risk of atherosclerosis and hyperlipidaemia. Phosphatidylcholine indirectly protects vascular endothelial cells by regulating lipid metabolism, maintaining vascular elasticity, and aiding in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and coronary heart disease.
▶ Regulate blood lipids and protects the cardiovascular system
