Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate Health Benefits:
The whey protein family consists of three types: whey protein concentrate (WPC), whey protein isolate (WPI), and whey protein hydrolysate (WPH). Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate is the product of enzymatic hydrolysis of whey protein concentrate or whey albumin, which reduces the risk of protein allergies, requires little digestive capacity to break down, and has a protein content of 75% to 90%. It is commonly used in protein supplements for medical purposes and added to infant formulas.
■ Source
Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate comes from the whey in milk. Milk is about 87 percent water and 13 percent solids. The solids include casein (about 80 percent) and whey protein (about 20 percent). When milk is used to make cheese, the casein coagulates and precipitates. The remaining liquid is whey, which is filtered, concentrated, hydrolysed and processed to give hydrolysed whey protein.

▶ Precise intervention of milk protein allergy
▶ Optimize digestion and absorption efficiency
Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate Applications:
Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate is primarily used for graded intervention in cases of cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA), as well as for nutritional support in preterm infants and infants with digestive and absorption disorders. It is also used for immune and metabolic regulation. Powdered formula products are the mainstream form, providing precise nutrition for allergy treatment and prevention and preterm infant nutrition. They are easy to store and prepare at home. Liquid formula products are convenient and clinically appropriate. They include ready-to-eat products, concentrated mutual products, and concentrated liquid milk, which meet the needs of different situations. Drops and tablets are currently used less frequently in infant formulas, but drop forms may be developed in the future.
Formulas with deeply hydrolyzed whey protein provide 90% symptomatic relief for infants with moderate to severe allergies. Over 75% of infants experience improvement in symptoms such as bloody stools and vomiting within two weeks. Partially hydrolyzed formulas act as a preventive barrier for infants at high risk for allergies. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has confirmed that formulas containing partially hydrolyzed whey proteins reduce the incidence of eczema in infants at high risk for allergies (those with one allergic parent) by 22%-35%. This is more effective than regular formulas.
Short peptide chains can be absorbed through the intestinal peptide transporter protein PEPT1 without being completely broken down into amino acids. They are absorbed 40% faster than intact proteins, making them a prime ingredient for intestinal development in preterm infants. Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate has an osmolality similar to breast milk, which is 15%-20% lower than regular formula. This reduces the osmolality load on the intestinal tract during diarrhea and makes the formula suitable for infants with secondary lactose intolerance.
▶ Dual regulation of immunity and metabolism
Enzymatic digestion of functional peptides with defined biological activities. Antimicrobial peptides inhibit E. coli biofilm formation and are 100 times more active than lactoferrin, thereby reducing the risk of intestinal infections in infants. An anti-inflammatory peptide can inhibit the release of the pro-inflammatory factor TNF-α. In vitro experiments show that it reduces the level of inflammatory factors in the intestinal mucosa by 40%. This makes it suitable for infants recovering from diarrhea.

■ Nutritional Value
Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate has short peptide chains that can be absorbed in the intestine via the peptide transporter protein PEPT1 without being completely broken down into amino acids. This process is 40% faster than the absorption of intact proteins. In preterm infants with intestinal villus hypoplasia, whey protein hydrolysate reduces the digestive burden and improves nitrogen retention by up to 85% (15% higher than normal proteins). Whey protein hydrolysate formula has an osmolality (280-300 mOsm/L) similar to breast milk (290 mOsm/L). This is 15-20% lower than regular formula, which reduces the intestinal osmolality load in cases of diarrhea.
Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate is available in the following specification and contents:
■ Production technology description
Xenoluna®Whey protein hydrolysate is a protein in which whey protein is broken down into smaller peptide chains or individual amino acids by enzymatic or acid hydrolysis. Its production process mainly includes raw material preparation (centrifugal separation method or membrane separation method), hydrolysis treatment (acid hydrolysis, alkaline hydrolysis and enzyme hydrolysis) and drying processing (spray drying, freeze drying and vacuum drying) and other steps.
